What Visitors Can Expect
At Faith Lutheran, you will experience the sounds of hymns, ancient and modern, sung boldly by the congregation and accompanied by an organ; Psalms and ancient liturgy chanted or spoken; the Word of God spoken and explained and prayers and petitions to God; a cross; a pastor wearing robes and collar; an altar draped in colors representing the time of year; banners on the wall, the lighting of candles.
If you commune (please read our page on Sacraments), you will taste the gift of his Son’s body and blood, which were given and shed for us so that we may have forgiveness and peace with God.
Worship
At Faith Lutheran, our worship is liturgical with its roots in early church history. In an age when our culture encourages constant change, we find solidarity and strength in worshiping God with the hymns and songs Christians have used throughout the centuries.
We use a hymn book, and our singing is usually accompanied by organ or piano. Hymn numbers are listed both in the bulletin and on the wall.
Worship is not so much about the praises we bring to God as about what God has given us in the gift of His Son. Worship is not entertainment, nor is it a good work that we perform for God. Lutheran worship is often called “Divine Service"; In the Divine Service God comes to us to serve us, both with His wonderful words of truth found in the Bible, and with Christ's body and blood in the Lord's Supper. As we gather together, we are strengthened in faith and focused on Christ and what He has done for us. We are strengthened for the tasks He has prepared for us to do in service to our family, friends and community.
If you have any other questions about what to do during worship, please feel free to either email us or ask one of the members of our friendly congregation before the service.
